What we make
Explainers are short videos, usually under ten minutes, that take one big story and make it easy to follow. Every explainer also has a written version on this site, with the charts and the sources.
Briefs are short news posts. Each one says what happened and what it means, with one chart and its sources.
How we check our stories
Every number comes from a source we name at the end of the story, such as government data, regulators, central banks, company filings and established research groups. We use the latest figures we can find and say when they date from. If we get something wrong, we correct it.
Some scenes in our videos are made with AI. Our charts, animations and music are original.
